Customer Retention Specialist (Remote, Phone) — Fast-Growing Pet Health Brand | Dogbiotics | Handshake

Company: Dogbiotics, premium all-natural dog health products
Type: Contract (1099), part-time to start (about 25 to 30 hrs/wk) with a clear path to full-time
Location: Remote, US-based
Comp: $14/hr base plus performance commission per save (strong performers blend to roughly $20 to 23/hr)

The role

We are a fast-growing dog health brand and we are hiring our first ever retention specialist. Our customers love our product. Sometimes life gets in the way and they think about pausing or canceling. Your job is to get them on the phone, understand what is really going on, and find the outcome that keeps their dog on the product and keeps them happy.

This is not a script-reading call center seat. It is a warm, high-trust conversation with people who already chose us. You will be the voice of the brand and the person who directly moves the number that matters most to a subscription business: how long customers stay.

You will be first, which means you help build this. Your best calls become the playbook for the team we grow behind you.

What you will do

  • Call customers who have signaled they want to pause or cancel (warm list, never cold)
  • Listen first, find the real reason, and solve it: pause, adjust, or re-sell the value
  • Hit weekly save targets and log every call cleanly
  • Give us feedback from the front line: what customers actually say, what is working, what is not

You are a fit if you

  • Light up on the phone and are not afraid to pick it up
  • Are competitive and motivated by commission. You want to earn, not clock in
  • Listen before you pitch, and stay calm when someone says no
  • Take coaching fast and actually change what you do
  • Genuinely like dogs (this matters, our customers can tell)
  • Can run your own day remotely without someone standing over you

Nice to have (not required)

  • Experience on a subscription save or retention team, inside sales, SDR, or any commission phone role
