You will work to provide editorial and logistical support to all platforms across broadcast, digital, and streaming in the overnight hours and to prepare for morning shows.<br /> <br /> Responsibilities:<br /> • Work to compile the Overnight editorial notes for mass distribution to the News Group<br /> • Alert overnight teams (mainly Today Show, Morning News NOW, Digital) about breaking news and developments for ongoing stories<br /> • Know when to wake up leadership when news requires moving resources / possible special reports, etc.<br /> • Coordinate the gathering and feeding of news materials<br /> • Effectively research & implement coverage of breaking news & on-going stories<br /> • Ability to jump in & quickly assess what is needed on coverage of a breaking story<br /> • Collaborate with NBC News digital, streaming and broadcast platforms on newsgathering, social media initiatives and content distribution<br /> • Communicate with important groups such as Legal, Standards, R&C to make sure appropriate editorial/usage guidance is obtained and disseminated to all platforms<br /> • Use data to inform and evolve newsgathering, storytelling and audience engagement<br /> • Initiate & maintain communication with affiliates & News Channel counterparts<br /> • Effective use & monitoring of social media sites & the web<br /> • Facilitate and manage live reporter requests from all platforms for field teams on assignment<br /> • Participate in daily network-wide conferences<br /> • Establish & maintain working story & contact files<br /> • Monitor competitive broadcasts and digital platforms<br /> • Ability to put together a story coverage plan & layout with oversight from management<br /> • Work closely with Network & NBC News Now teams to accommodate their on-air needs (breaking news, correspondent requests, etc.)<br /> • Coordinate with technical and operations staff on resource management<br /> <br /> This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000<br /> <br /> Qualifications<br /> • At least 2 years editorial production experience at a network, local, cable or digital outlet<br /> • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience<br /> • Proficient on newsroom systems and all social media outlets<br /> • Solid working knowledge of TV production, affiliates & satellite operations<br /> • Strong news judgment & communication skills are essential<br /> • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment & prioritize assignments<br /> • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and overnights, under tight deadline pressure, occasionally with little or no warning<br /> • Must be a team player, collaboration is key<br /> • Demonstrates strong knowledge and interest in news & current events<br /> <br /> Desired Characteristics:<br /> • Ability to work independently<br /> • Strong research skills and editorial judgment<br /> • Ability to clearly communicate directives and status updates to both technical and non-technical resources<br /> • Experience in major market or network with big breaking news<br /> • Able to work both independently and as a member of a team<br /> • Capable of managing multiple deliverables and completing assigned tasks quickly<br /> • Passion for news and an interest in multiple platforms (broadcast, web, streaming, mobile)<br /> • Innovative and flexible thinker, comfortable suggesting solutions<br /> • Committed to quality in every assignment, large or small<br /> • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines<br /> • Strong interpersonal skills<br /> • Fluency in another language not required, but a plus<br /> <br /> Additional Requirements:<br /> • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States<br /> • Must be willing to work in New York, NY<br /> • Must be 18 years or older<br /> • Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
