As an Energy Trader – Analyst within the Asia Energy Trading Desk, you will play a key role in supporting senior traders to capitalize on client flow and maximize franchise revenue. You’ll engage with clients, provide market color, and assist in developing trading ideas based on fundamental and technical analysis. Your contributions help manage risk and ensure efficient hedging, supporting the team’s success in the APAC region. Job responsibilities

  • Assist senior traders to accurately and competitively price client energy transactions
  • Efficiently hedge trading positions to maximize franchise revenue
  • Collaborate with sales colleagues to engage clients and provide market color
  • Develop trading ideas using fundamental and technical analysis of energy markets
  • Support risk management of trading books, including non-linear risk
  • Appropriately size and manage positions for profitable trading strategies
  • Perform daily desk functions, including marking forward curves and providing market commentary
  • Hedge secondary trading book exposures such as FX and interest rates
  • Contribute to energy fundamental analytics within the energy complex
  • Ensure disciplined adherence to controls and compliance standards
  • Operate effectively within a diverse and international team

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related discipline
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in commodities trading or analytics
  • Strong understanding of energy fundamentals
  • Ability to assess and understand risk around trading positions and market events
  • Thrive under competitive pressures and remain focused on client needs
  • Maturity and ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong disciplined approach to controls and compliance
  • Ability to work under pressure and operate at senior level if required
  • Strong computational skills in Python, SQL, or other programming languages
  • Effective teamwork skills in a diverse/international environment
